Four young girls - Addie Mae Collins, Carol Denise McNair, Carole Robertson and Cynthia Diane Wesley - who had been getting into their choir robes where the bomb exploded, were killed. The crowd of African Americans who gathered that morning were furious. Despite the pastor calling for calm, a riot broke out. By the end of the day 6 people were dead and 17 injured. |
